Slow Internet, or Slow Computer?

Is your internet connection unusually slow? Guess what? You don't need fancy software, or quick-fix gimmicks and chances are good that some basic maintenance will go a long way towards improving your web surfing experience.
1.) Regular Maintenance: a regularly scheduled defrag and virus scan can truly help speed up your connection. Often, the only sign that a computer is infected with viruses and spyware is the speed at which it connects to the net.
2.) Encryption: If you are running a wireless network, it is always a good idea to use encryption to block uninvited guests from hogging your bandwidth. There's nothing more annoying than somebody piggybacking off your signal because they are too cheap to pay for internet.
3.) Upgrade Your Equipment: Although your trusty modem has served you well for the past few years, it may very well be outdated and not well suited to keeping up with all of the latest online content. Also, it may be time to add more RAM to your computer, or upgrade the hard drive.
4.) Check With Your Service Provider: These days the emphasis is focused almost exclusively on speed, so much so that your service provider most likely offers several different packages all based on different speed levels.

  3. I think it is not always the computer to be blamed for slow speed. It is usually the wretched way people use their computer that causes the problems in the first place. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful post regarding PC repair.

  4. “There's nothing more annoying than somebody piggybacking off your signal because they are too cheap to pay for internet.”--- Well, it’s not that you’re selfish and that you don’t want to give access to anybody. It’s just your way of securing your documents. It’s simply goes like this: If you allow other people in your network, it’s like you’re giving them access to most your personal files and are giving them permission to harm you.

  5. Before I totally let go of my old computer, I had to copy first all those important files that I need. These also includes the music and movies that I’ve downloaded. I’ve learned that beforehand, you should create a backup of your data so that when sudden problems occur on your PC, you’ll be fine with it because you’re definitely prepared. ;)

  6. Well, if you know that you have a great internet connection, then you should really check the condition of your computer. There must be something that causes you to have that slow connection. But, if you know that your PC is in great condition, you must indeed check with your service provider. You need to trace the root of the problem to find the solution. This is true with other computer problems as well.
